THE FAMILY

Definition

A family is a group of individuals in which individuals live with each other to fulfill their biological needs. A group of closely related persons who eat at a common kitchen is called a family.

Family is the unit in which the primary health care and social services of the individual are delivered. It is the unit of study for social and medical sciences. Most of the health workers, professionals, nurses are related to the family or people as a seed.

Introduction

Family is the basic unit of community. There is not a single society in the world that does not have family, that is, social life begins with family. Many families come together to form a community. Family is the basic group. It is a small group which is also called primary group.

The family expects its sex needs to be verified and its economic feeding, clothing, housing, medical needs to be met and it is the act packet that its cultural value norms are transmitted to the young generation.

(B)Non Essential Functions

(1) Status function

Family is a means of social identity in which a person’s class, religion, place, residence, education, etc. are associated with the family.

(2) Protective function

Sub caste endogamy
This is another type of endu gami marriage in which the person marries within his own sub caste. Casts are divided into sub casts. Sub casts are known as endo games units
