—ENGLISH-ANATOMY UNIT 1:(PART : 2)SYSTEM AND CAVITIES OF THE HUMAN BODY

SYSTEM AND CAVITIES OF THE HUMAN BODY:

BODY CAVITIES AND REGIONS OF ABDOMINAL CAVITY:

Empty spaces in the body are called cavities. Important organs are arranged in these cavities. These organs are supported and protected by the cavities. Due to the cavities, each of these organs  are arranged separately from each other and can maintain their normal position in the body.

The following large cavities are present in the body.

  • Cranial Cavity
  • Thoracic Cavity
  • Abdominal CVT Cavity)
  • Pelvic Cavity

There are also some small cavities in the body such as..

  • Orbital Cavity
  • Nasal Cavity
  • Oral Cavity etc…

Describe the cavity in the body:

Cranial Cavity:

This cavity is formed by the Cranium bones. Which are found at the top of the head. Inside this cavity, the most important organ is the brain.  A tissue layer covering the brain is arranged meninges. This layer is arranged in a row around the brain and spinal cord.

Thoracic Cavity:

The thoracic cavity is also called the chest cavity. This cavity is located in the upper part of the chest. This cavity is formed by the ribs, sternum bone, clavicle bone, and thoracic vertebrae.

  • Inside this cavity are important organs like Lung, heart, trachea, bronchi, esophagus, etc..
  • A tissue layer is arranged around this cavity which is called Pleura.
  • The thoracic cavity also contains smaller cavities like pleural cavity, mediastinum cavity and pericardial cavity.

Abdominal Cavity:

  • The abdominal cavity is located below the thoracic cavity. It is separated from the thoracic cavity by the diaphragm muscles.
  • The abdominal cavity contains important organs such as the stomach, intestines, pancreas, liver, kidneys, etc.
  • A tissue layer called the peritoneum is spread around each organ in this cavity.
  • The abdominal cavity is divided into 9 (Nine) regions according to their location.

Pelvic cavity:

  • Below the abdominal cavity is the funnel-shaped pelvic cavity. This cavity is formed by the two innominate bones and the sacrum bone.
  • This cavity contains the organs of the urinary system and the organs of the male and female reproductive tract.

List the regions of the abdominal cavity:

The abdominal cavity is mainly divided into nine different regions according to their location, which are as follows. According to this region, the exact location of each organ in the abdominal cavity can be determined.

  1. Right hypochondriac region
  2. Epigastric region
  3. Left hypochondriac region
  4. Right Lumbar Region
  5. Umbilical Region
  6. Left Lumbar Region
  7. Right Iliac Fossa Region region)
  8. Hypo gastric region ( hypo gastric region)
  9. Left iliac fossa region
